Update: How Can You Save Yourself and 800,000 People from COVID-19 - Coronavirus?

The hardest part of all this is to understand that most of us will get the COVID-19 at some point. Most of us who are healthy, we will recover from this flu. However, what we have failed to understand as a human race is that being selfish only makes situations worse and not just for ourselves but the nation. Our parents, grandparents, friends and family who have weakened immunities come into contact with any of us that are infected are at the greatest risk of death. However, this is a tragedy that can be prevented. It is said about 800,000 people will die from COVID-19 and consists of persons that are immunocompromised- the persons who have weakened immunities that are unable to battle COVID-19. Most of us will not know when we have this virus and by the times our symptoms show we may have already spread it to our loved ones. The symptoms of COVID-19 don’t usually appear until 5-6days. This is why it is so hard to slow the rapid spread! This is why SOCIAL DISTANCING is so important.

Steps to avoid contracting COVID-19 is to wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face, stay away from others who are sick and stay away from others who have recently traveled. Even after all of these steps if you come into contact with someone carrying COVID-19 and they have no idea they have it, you would need to be at least 6 feet away from them. COVID-19 is airborne. So to all of us who are lining up at Costco and other grocery stores to buy all the supplies, you just put yourself higher at risk of contraction of COVID-19 and worse maybe have contracted it and now are a diligent  carrier of it taking it home. You want to avoid large groups. Just one infected person in that large crowd of people can spread COVID-19 to the entire crowd. So if you want to protect your family and, in doing so, you are also greatly decreasing the spread of COVID-19 to our nation too, start practicing social distancing.

More so than the fear of contracting COVID-19, the true fear should be in question is: how is our health system going to handle this? Practicing social distancing is the key to help slow down the spread of COVID-19. This helps slow the rate of this virus and allows prevents our hospitals from being overwhelmed. Otherwise, it will be like going to a hospital without staff to help you or lack of supplies.  They ran out of supplies or they got sick because they did not have the supplies to protect themselves to help you! Unfortunately, the public has not been informed on their doing their part in helping in this situation. Instead everyone is in a panic and preparing to stock their bunkers.

Social distancing is not easy. Everything shutting down is not easy. But the quickest way to recovery is to stop and let this pass and get our lives back. If we continue to keep in contact with others we will keep the cycle of spread going, which only delays us to getting back to our normal lives. It is ok to go out and get a few items but generally, you want to stay home and do your part to help our nation get through this infection.
